The Wavedance Kingfisher Fishing Kayak
The Kingfisher's a fast, versatile, and stable
multi-scuppered sit on top single kayak. Manufactured
from tough roto-moulded linear polyethylene right here in
Australia (Seaford Victoria), and fitted with quality
accessories and mounting hardware, this kayak is ideally
suited to freshwater, estuary and open water fishing. So
if you are serious about kayak fishing you should check
out these fabulous Kingfisher Pro-Angler features:
The
majority of options below can be fitted to any kayak in
the Wavedance range.
Two
large hatches (Standard on Kingfisher):
These huge oval hatches (50cm x 30cm), one forward and
one aft, allow easy access to the cavernous interior of
the Kingfisher for stowing all your fishing and/or
camping gear, with room left over for your cart.
15cm centre hatch (Standard on all Wavedance
Models):
Dry well area with a screw top access port and mesh bag.
Good for storing commonly used tackle, or your wallet,
car keys, and that digital camera or mobile phone (in dry
bag).
Rear
storage well (Standard on Kingfisher):
Just
behind the seat is a large easily accessible storage well
ideal for all that fishing gear you may need to access
whilst on the water. Many experienced kayak fisho’s put
an Esky type cooler, crate or live bait tank here, with
extra rod holders for storing rods or a landing net. We
can virtually custom fit this area with whatever you
want.
High
back seat (Option available on all models):
A quality seat is essential if you intend spending any
time in your yak. An
extra
comfort fit foam seat pad and a firm fully adjustable
back support makes it a pleasure when spending those few
extra hours out there catching the big ones. You won’t
get a crook back with one of these.
Two
rear flush mount rod holders (Option available on all
models):
Suitable for trolling medium/heavy rigs in estuaries or
offshore.
Paddle Leash (Option available on all models):
Tethering your paddle to the kayak is essential from a
safety standpoint if you plan on using your kayak in the
surf, or rough water conditions.
Alloy
one piece paddle (Standard on all Wavedance
models):
Quality low weight alloy bi-directional plastic bladed
paddle makes paddling a breeze.
Two piece fiberglass paddle (Option):
This high quality two piece fiberglass shaft/plastic
bladed paddle being extra light is a pleasure to use. No
more tired arms with this beauty, and being two piece it
is easy to store and transport.
Rod/Reel Leashes (Option):
Kayak fishing can be murder on your gear, so securing
valuable rods and reels is essential, especially if there
is a fish on the end of it. You only have to drop one
expensive rig overboard to appreciate why serious yak
fishers always tether their gear.
Stainless steel accessory bar (Option):
The perfect place to mount an adjustable rod holder or
two, or your Fishfinder/GPS. An excellent position for
estuary and fresh water trolling, allowing you to monitor
the rod tip at all times.
Adjustable Rod holders (Option):
These quality
Snap Loc brand rod holders can be placed virtually
anywhere you want them provided they don’t interfere with
your paddle stroke. The optional accessory bar is the
perfect place for them.
Paddle Holder (Option):
Mounted on the left or right side (or both), slightly
behind hip level for quick and easy storage of and access
to your paddle.
Lip
Gripper (Option):
For safe handling of smaller/medium sized species a
quality stainless steel lip gripper is essential. The
serious ‘yak’ angler who practices catch and release
(C&R) will appreciate these, as will the fish.
Fishing
knife and holder (Option):
A good quality stainless steel fishing knife close at
hand in the cockpit is essential for the serious yak
fisherman.
Stainless Steel 'Fish Lifter' (Option):
For those big fish you don’t want to get away.
Thigh/carry
strap (Option):
Enables the paddler to use their weight to greater effect
when working in the surf. Also doubles as a handy carry
strap.
Bottom
anchor kit (Option):
For times when you need to accurately position your yak
over that hole/bank, we have put together a convenient
anchor kit for you. The kit includes a 1.5 kg galvanized
folding grappling anchor, nifty nylon mesh carrying bag,
20 metres of high strength nylon anchor line. Rope cleats
are also available to make this kit even more user
friendly. The rope feeds through the cleat and holds
anchor above water – ready for instant deployment. When
you want to anchor, uncleat the rope and let go – the
anchor drops down into water. Ditto in reverse when you
want to pull up.
Sea
Anchor Kit (Option) :
One of the most annoying things with Kayaks is holding
station in wind or current. The simple solution here is a
sea anchor or drogue (basically just a large sock like
bag on the end of a rope) which is cast out to windward.
It will significantly slow down your drift, and depending
on where you secure it, correctly position your yak for
fishing. This kit comes complete with the drogue, a nifty
carry bag, and 20 metres of strong nylon anchor rope.
Again the cleat option is available.
Fishfinder/GPS (Option):
Once a luxury, now almost a necessity for serious
fisho’s. The extensive range of compact waterproof and
relatively cheap sonar’s and GPS units available today
make these some of our most popular options. Fish finders
(especially colour units) are extremely useful for
determining depth and water temperature, and are
invaluable for finding that all important hole or bottom
structure. Most units can be easily attached to the
accessory bar, or alternatively we will custom fit them
in the cockpit. You choose what and where.
Electric
outboard motor (Option):
Increasingly as electric outboards (leccy’s) get smaller
and cheaper people are realizing their potential for
powering a kayak. They are particularly good for people
with medical or fitness issues, but even if you are as
fit as a Mallee bull, places which were out of the
question under paddle power suddenly become a real
possibility. We can supply and fit a matched electric
outboard solution for your kayak.
Stainless Steel Kayak Cart (Option):
This custom made stainless steel scupper hole model is
the Rolls Royce of kayak carts. With large wide wheels,
it is extremely lightweight, yet robust enough to carry a
fully laden kayak over sand and rough tracks. Simply pop
the bars in the scupper holes, load the yak with all your
gear and wheel it right into the water. Float the yak off
the cart, disassemble it (takes all of 30 seconds), and
pop it in the large Kingfisher hatches. Being marine
grade stainless steel you know you will never have any
concerns about rust.
